Lecture on Progressive Christianity Friday August 3rd

“The Progressive Christian Reformation: Prophetic, Poetic, Promising”

by Rev. Roger Wolsey, United Methodist clergyperson and author of 2011 book “Kissing Fish.”

Friday, August 3rd., 7:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, Portland
[Directions]

A growing number of Christians are calling themselves “Spiritual but not Religious.” Our faith has been hijacked and nearly twisted beyond recognition.

Frankly, there are good reasons why many folks don’t want to be “Christians” these days.

It’s tempting to throw in the towel. Yet, followers of the Risen Christ aren’t meant to be timid.

We’re called to holy boldness and to go against the flow
and to swim upstream — despite the seeming futility.

This free public lecture is an exploration of how Jesus’ “fish” can reclaim our power — trusting and relying on the God of resurrection — to repent, restore, and revive Christianity for the 21st century.

Held in the Fireside Room at 7:00pm.

Q&A will follow the lecture.
