2012-2013 Sunday School Teachers

It’s getting close to that time of year to start thinking about teaching Sunday school next year. We will especially need support in Pre-Kindergarten and 2/3rd grade classes. Please consider the call to teach young ones.

February Thank Offering

Sisters of the Road CafeThe third Sunday of every month we take a special “Thank Offering” to support organizations beyond the church who are engaged in positive or ministries of compassion and service.

You are invited to share a brief word of gratitude for something or someone in your life as you bring your gift to support these ministries. February 19th our gifts will go to Sisters of the Road Cafe in downtown Portland.

Here is a little information about this organization, taken from their website, www.sistersoftheroad.org:

Since 1979, Sisters Of The Road has been an essential part of the Old Town/Chinatown neighborhood. Sisters offers a space to build community, empower ourselves, learn from one another, dine with dignity and organize for justice and human rights for all.

Sisters Of The Road exists to build authentic relationships and alleviate the hunger of isolation in an atmosphere of nonviolence and gentle personalism that nurtures the whole individual, while seeking systemic solutions that reach the roots of homelessness and poverty to end them forever.

Wednesday, February 7

Preacher’s Pub will meet at Cafe Nizza (820 SW 18th Ave Portland, OR 97205 – right across from the ball park) at 7 p.m. Tonight

Living a COLORFUL Faith

You may have noticed that your last Circuit Rider newsletter was printed in vibrant color.

The change is in part due to the fact that our office copy machine now supports the ability to create a beautiful quality product at a lower cost to the church. Printing “in house” allows the church to save money and look better. Who can argue with that change for 2012?

You can find the newest issue of the newsletter at on the front page of our website or by clicking on this address: http://fumcpdx.org/CurrentNewsletter/

By switching to the electronic copy, you can eliminate the long wait for each issue to arrive in your mailbox and do your part to save a tree or two.

If you are interested in switching you can let the church office know at office@fumcpdx.org and we will send you a reminder email every two weeks when the new Circuit Rider is posted.

If you use an RSS Reader, you can also subscribe by clicking on this link.
