Twenty years ago First Church voted to become a “reconciling congregation.”
The First Church Reconciling Ministries group is dedicated to work toward full participation of all races, abilities, ages, classes, gender identities, and sexual orientations in the life of the local church and in the international United Methodist Church, both in policy and in practice.
Join us for Lunch!
FUMC Reconciling Advocacy / Fellowship Ministry invites all to join us on the 3rd Sunday each month Sept to June. Note: All meetings take place in Room 202 unless noted otherwise.
Our Ministries Include:
- The First Church congregation includes members of the sexual minority community who worship and participate in the leadership, and ministries of First Church.
- First Church members and clergy have marched for many years in the annual Pride Parade in June.
- First Church annually recognizes World Aids Sunday and Reconciling Sunday during the worship service.
- Reconciling Ministries hold after-service, out-to-lunch meetings on the third Sunday of each month.
