Youth at First Church
The Youth Program
Our Youth Program is a vibrant group that is managed by Megan Humphreys-Loving. Megan is in the office most days and can be reached at her desk at 503/228-3195 ext. 227. Her email address is Mhumphreys-loving@fumcpdx.org.
We are a diverse group of youth ranging from 6th grade- 12th grade.

On Sunday mornings, we explore issues of youth in the church and in the world during Sunday School starting at 9:30. Youth of all ages are invited to join in Collins Hall, for our Sunday School-Coffee house style!
Youth Sunday School is taught by volunteers from the congregation. All have been through training regarding our Safe Church Policy, and have participated in background checks through our church.

The Youth Ministry Committee is planning exciting adventures for the last Sunday of each month.
- On November 27 we will be hosting the Chili Lunch.
- January 29, 2012 -Lunch at the Sushi Go Round!
- February 26, 2012- Pizza Party and Crazy Games at Church
Shout Out: First Church Youth E-Newsletter
SHOUT OUT is our weekly email newsletter Youth and their parents. It contains information about weekly Sunday school lessons and upcoming youth projects and trips. Special events will be announced via this E-Newsletter, as will details about upcoming projects. This email comes out every Wednesday, and is posted on the website.

- NOVEMBER Service Project: Let’s Make a Kitchen
- NOVEMBER: Chili Lunch
- DECEMBER: Youth Group Christmas Party: December 11- Meet in the Youth Room after worship to play games and have pizza. Also…there will be a bake-off. Bring a holiday baked good for all to try and vote on the best one! Winner of the bake-off wins!
Boy Scout Troop 1
TROOP 1 meets at the First United Methodist Church each Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM during the regular school year. Scouts visiting the Portland area are welcome to join us for our meetings.

Adult Volunteers are Always in Demand!
Volunteering with youth is rewarding and amazing. The policies of the church state that we must have at least two adults present during youth events. They also require a background check for anyone working with the program.
Download the Volunteer Disclosure Form and church policies if you are interested in working with the FUMC Youth program as an adult volunteer.
Please do not email the completed form, Mail it directly to Megan Humphreys-Loving, or bring it by the church office in a sealed envelope with Megan’s name on it.
