THE PSU Landing at FUMC

a community sheltering students through housing crisis and transitions

Our mission is to provide a temporary safe haven for houseless Portland State University (PSU) students.

The PSU Landing at FUMC is a collaborative effort between Portland State University, First United Methodist Church and community members  that provides temporary, safe-haven housing in the Goose Hollow neighborhood for PSU students navigating a housing crisis or homelessness.

What We provide

The Landing provides guaranteed space and resources 7 nights a week to provide a PSU student the time and support they need to seek permanent and affordable housing solutions.

The Landing Board of Directors values, and is working to reflect the diverse nature of PSU students to ensure that residents will feel welcome and safe, regardless of who they are, and what their cultural needs are.

Getting a good night’s sleep is really important! We provide a place to sleep in the gymnasium of FUMC.

We have storage space for personal food items and provide special access to Preston’s Food Pantry. We also partner with PSU Eats to provide 14 meals every 2 weeks on campus.

Our facilities are equipped with laundry and private showers, and community supporters donate toiletries.

The Landing provides stable Wi-Fi for students. We know how important internet and computer access is to students for personal and school use. We are currently building a study room. If you have a computer to donate, please contact us.

We have free parking available for residents with vehicles. Residents may also use the church address as a permanent residential address.

Our staff and volunteers are well trained, compassionate, and always willing to listen and support the needs of our guests.

The Landing seeks to create an inclusive community and welcomes diversity. We do not deny applicants on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, mental health, or gender identity.
