Matt grew up on a ranch in rural Arizona a quarter mile from the Colorado River, and moved to Portland in early 2014. He brings the values of First Church into his work by maintaining an inclusive and hospitable environment in the front office. With a background in editorial design, he coordinates with staff and ministry leaders in communication campaigns as copy editor of First Church print and digital communications. In addition to his work at First Church, he is also a freelance musician and front-end web developer. In his free time he enjoys the company of friends over a good home-cooked meal, and lively discussions about philosophy, politics and ethics over a cup of Mexican coffee.
