Interfaith Community Solar Challenge

Planet Church invites you to reduce your carbon footprint, and your electric bill!

Portland FUMC is taking part in an interfaith Community Solar Challenge campaign, where Oregonians can support our state’s transition to solar power through Oregon Community Solar Program.

About The Program

Whether you are a renter or a homeowner, community solar gives you the opportunity to support local solar projects while saving money on your existing utility bill, even if you are unable to install rooftop solar panels at home. Everyone who enrolls will save 4% on their subscribed energy, and those identified as low-moderate income will save 32% on the energy produced by their share of the solar farm.

Take the Challenge!

Most customers of Portland General Electric can sign up with their electric utility account. You can enroll online through the Oregon Shines Website (Be sure to take part in the Challenge by clicking “Interfaith Community Solar Challenge” and entering Portland First UMC when you enroll).

Sign up during Coffee Fellowship, Sundays April 23, May 7, 14 & 21.

Representatives from Planet Church will be in Collins Hall on Sunday to help with the mechanics of signing up for the Community Solar Challenge. Bring a copy of your power bill, or Account Number and Meter Number and you should be able to sign up on the spot!

About Planet Church and our Interfaith Community Partners.

Planet Church is Portland FUMC’s creation care committee, and for many years has focused on how we as a church community can provide healing and renewal to our precious earth through climate justice advocacy.

Rev. John Pitney, former pastor of Eugene FUMC, and environmental activist is guiding us through this Interfaith Community Solar Challenge with Salem FUMC and Great Spirit UMC. We hope as many of you who are able can join us in supporting Oregon solar energy in this way.
