Liz Temple to Begin Counseling Internship

Dear First Church,

We are having a wedding! Our very own Church Administrator, Liz Temple, is getting married this fall. We could not be more thrilled! She is also launching the next phase of her life as a Marriage and Family Counselor. Liz has nearly completed her Masters in Counselor Education through the Portland State University College of Education. This January she will begin the internship year of her program. She will specialize in working with children, youth, and families.

This means that her time serving with us as Church Administrator will come to a close at the end of December 2022.

When she found that we were to have a pastoral transition this year, Liz very graciously postponed her internship to help with the transition. Now that we have begun to settle in, the time has come for her to pursue where God is calling her next! We are so grateful for the 8 years she served alongside this congregation. We are full of both joy and sadness at her departure.

We will spend the next few months celebrating Liz’s ministry and working together to get our administrative systems on track for 2023. All are committed to finishing strong with a smooth transition in December.

This is a joyful time and a time of sorrow. I am proud of the work we have accomplished together, and I am sorry to be leaving. While my future will involve working with children and families in Portland and around the state, this church and the people I serve with will live in a special place in my heart. If you know me then you know that I care deeply for each and every one of the folks I work alongside, for the goals we have committed to, and the community we have impacted. I am excited to spend the next few months preparing the way for the next Church Administrator. I trust they will find as much, if not more, joy and meaning in the work of this church.
