Quarterly Finance Report

Dear FUMC Member or Constituent,

Your First Church Finance Committee is pleased to provide you with this brief update on church finances.

Summary of FUMC finances as of March 31, 2023:

General Finance Notes

During the first quarter of 2023, pledges received (Figure 1 first column) totaled $317,355 or 40% of pledge budget for the year.  This total includes pledges pre-paid in 2022 designated for the 2023 fiscal year.  For the first time in several years, we are ahead of forecast giving for this point in the year. Non-pledged giving (Figure 1 second column) for the first quarter stood at $77,912 or 28% of our 2023 budget, slightly ahead of forecast for the year.

Expenses during the 3 months ending March 31 (Figure 2) remained generally on budget.

Finance Commentary

2023 has been the strongest start for FUMC finances in several years.  Several factors including a restructuring of the budget for 2023 to make it more easily understood, monitored, and proactively managed have helped realize this success, but most critical has been your support of our 2023 pledge campaign and your faithful giving!  THANK YOU!!

With summer ahead of us, please remember to not let your support of FUMC take a vacation.  Make it easy though automatic giving from a checking or savings account (preferred) or via credit card.  Visit fumcpdx.org/give for more details.  If you have not made a 2023 pledge, it’s not too late to support the work of this community. Pledged giving, even in small amounts given consistently, greatly enhances our ability to plan further into the future and make commitments to supporting the vital spiritual and physical needs of our community.
