Amidst lengthy processes of nominations and elections, confusion over rules and petitions, and reports from the denomination’s general agencies, there have been numerous electrifying moments on the plenary floor.
As many of you know, the Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice (IMIrJ) works for justice for the immigrant community in Oregon. With the confluence of the global pandemic, the urgency of the Black Lives Matter uprising, and a rising white nationalist movement, the work of IMIrJ and its partners is more important than ever. IMIrJ is challenging communities of faith and of fierce love to collectively learn our way more fully into courageous action for racial and immigrant justice.
Along with our partners throughout the state, First Church will be forming a Sacred Circle to support this work. We are inviting those of you who are inspired to do this work to meet virtually to envision who we want to be in this troubled world and take action to make that vision a reality.
