Second Quarter Finance REport
Dear FUMC Member or Constituent,
Your First Church Finance Committee is pleased to provide you with this brief update on church finances.
Summary of FUMC finances as of June 30, 2023:
General Finance Notes
During the first half of 2023, pledges received (Figure 1 first column) totaled $391,125 or 49% of pledge budget for the year. This total includes pledges pre-paid in 2022 designated for the 2023 fiscal year. Although generally on track with a linear year-to-date projection, it is important to note that Q2-2023 represented a significant slowdown in pledged giving as compared to Q1-2023. Non-pledged giving (Figure 1 second column) for the first half stood at $111,349 or 40% of our 2023 budget, or over $26,000 behind forecast for the year.
Expenses for the first half of 2023 (Figure 2) remained generally on budget at 51% of forecast annual spend.
Finance Commentary
2023 remains the strongest year for FUMC finances in several years despite the noted slowdown in pledged giving during Q2 which can partially be attributed to the impact of pre-paid annual pledges accounted for in Q1. We will monitor this closely to see if we are trending behind budget as we move though Q3.
