On his deathbed, John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement, was quoted as saying, “the best of all, God is with us.” As we journey through the Lenten season, the 40 days leading up to Easter, we will immerse ourselves in these and other words of wisdom from within our Methodist and Wesleyan tradition. We’ll dig into the basics of our faith and ask ourselves what it means to follow Jesus in the Methodist tradition. Each week we’ll explore an important marker of Methodist theology and practice and, of course, we can’t help but pair each week with a different Charles Wesley hymn. And so, let us journey together as we remind ourselves that, indeed, “the best of all” is that our God is with us through life, through death, and through resurrection.
