During Advent, we remember what Christ’s birth has meant for the world – that God is truly with us – and we yearn for the realization of the reign of God that has not yet come to pass: a reign of hope, peace, love, and joy.
In the same way we offer poinsettias for sponsorship in honor or in memory of a loved one (Poinsettia Sponsorships Coming Soon!), this year we are offering a number of wreaths for sponsorship as well.

2023 is a special year for members of our Tabitha Circle – the sewing ministry of United Women in Faith at Portland FUMC – as they celebrate ten faithful years of making quilts for our graduating seniors!

Due to the Pandemic, we’ve had to make many changes in how we do ministry at First Church.
The Flower Committee is taking Altar Flower orders. Arrangements are displayed on the Altar every Sunday
We are starting a volunteer office reception team to help in the front office. We have a few folks who’ve volunteered but we are recruiting a few more for our first training coming up in January.
