At First Church we partner with parents, grandparents and all guardians of children in teaching, strengthening and empowering them in their faith journey from a progressive United Methodist perspective. Our staff and volunteers strive to create an environment that is safe, fun, and inclusive to all.

Safe Sanctuaries

First Church is part of the Safe Sanctuaries Network, a United Methodist developed protocols for all ministries involving Children and vulnerable adults that keep everyone safe. These protocols include:

1. Every class and event involving children, youth and vulnerable adults require  2 adults present at all times. 

2. All staff and children working with children, youth and vulnerable adults must be background checked and go through Safe Sanctuaries training.

Abuse Prevention Document

  • We offer Sunday School for Pre-K through 12th Grade from 9:30-10:15 am

  • Children’s Church is offered for kids in Pre-K – 2nd Grade during the 10:30 am worship service. “Sunday School in the Pews” is available for 3rd Grade and older during service.

  • All of our staff and volunteers are background checked. Staff are First Aid and CRP certified. 

  • Our music ministries offers a variety of Children’s choirs appropriate for their age levels.

  • We provide a variety of activities for children and families throughout the year including retreats, special festivals that include treats, games and other family activities.

  • Nursery care is provided on Sunday mornings for infants and young children. Nursery staff are trained in First Aid and are CPR certified. Nursery care can be requested for events, such as Bible studies or rehearsals.
