Imagine the Possibilities

First Church is 176 years old. We are a historic faith community and an ever-growing family of God. It is important that we are intentional about that growth. In order for pastoral leadership to craft goals and meaningful metrics toward reaching them, we need to determine where we’re headed. That’s where YOU come in. We’re launching a new visioning process, and we want to hear from everyone.

What does First Church mean to you? What are we all about? Why do we do what we do? Most importantly, how is God calling us to take care of each other, serve our neighbors, and respond to changes in the world around us?

Over the next two months, our newly created Visioning Task Force will offer a wide variety of ways for you to raise your voice and engage with this process. There will be one-on-one and group interviews. We’ll solicit and post your thoughts and dreams for our church. And it all leads up to (drumroll, please) the triumphant return of the Chili Cook-off as we meet to hash out our core values and vision for the future. Mark your calendars now for Saturday, Nov. 16, 3-6 p.m. We’ll be Stirring the Pot in more ways than one!

With the guidance of an outside consultant who comes highly recommended by fellow faith communities, she’s shepherded through similar processes, the Visioning Task Force will then assemble all we’ve discovered into a cohesive proposal we will present to the congregation in late January for review and feedback.

It’s an exciting time at First Church. Get ready to Imagine the Possibilities!
