A Word with the Pastor

May 16, 2024

Our summer theme song was written for us in 1965 by that quartet of quirky, crooning poets: The Beatles.
As I sat to write this, I replayed the Help! music video; I encourage you to do the same (and to watch Ringo the entire time).

As we’ve said time and time again, our shared faith as a Christian people is not a solitary or individual one; this messy gathering that is the Body of Christ is a group project. As the Beatles sing, this mutuality is made clearer to us as we mature in community.

When we realized that Rev. Ethan, Rev. Lowell, and Drew would all be transitioning out at the same time, and that we all had conferences, renewal leave, transition leave, graduation, and vacations amid those transitions, we quickly gathered that we needed help(!) - and not just from anybody.

Pentecost Sunday
8:30am & 10:30am

Join us this Pentecost where Rev. Karyn Richards-Kuan will be discussing Acts 2:1-8, 11b-18 (CEB).
During the 10:30 a.m. service, we will welcome into membership this year’s students who will be confirmed in worship. This year’s celebration also includes the world premiere of a commissioned work by local composer David Walters. “Meditations on Fire” is an inspiring multi-movement piece, guiding us through the celebration, reverence, and mystery of the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Jesus’ disciples. Special musicians will accompany our Chancel Choir as we celebrate the Pentecost together!

When coming to worship, we invite you to wear Pentecost red or rainbows! If participating online, the Live Stream will begin broadcasting at 10:20 a.m.
10:30am in the Sanctuary

Welcome our New Members!

Last Sunday we welcomed, (pictured left to right), Faith Emerson, Linda Ridgway, Michael & Robert Thurman-Noche, Jeanette Palmiter, Kelly McCann & Anna Paffrath into Membership.
