Save the Date - All Church Reads
A church-wide book discussion co-sponsored by the FUMC Library and Land & Housing Circle
Everyone in our church community is invited to participate in a shared reading and discussion of “When We Walk By: Forgotten Humanity, Broken Systems, and the Role We Can Each Play in Ending Homelessness in America” by Kevin Adler and Donald Burnes.
This timely and important book takes an urgent look at homelessness in America and what happens when we choose to ignore our unhoused neighbors. Discover what we stand to gain when we embrace our humanity and move toward evidence-based, people-first solutions.
Together, we’ll explore ideas, reflect on meaning, and consider how this book can inspire our faith and actions, particularly in the context of our new church vision statement (coming soon).
FIRST, LET’S READ! Get your copy of the book in the Narthex after 10:30 a.m. worship on January 12 or 19. Copies will also be available in the library. To ensure everyone can participate, books are available on a sliding scale. You’re welcome to receive a book for free or you may contribute by purchasing a book at the reduced price of $10 or the full price of $20. Proceeds help cover the cost of books for others.
THEN, LET’S TALK! Join us for a book discussion on Sunday, March 9 at 12:00 p. m. in the Fireside Room (remember to leap forward). Lunch will be served. Whether you’re an avid reader or just looking for a way to connect more deeply with others, this is a chance to grow and strengthen our bonds as a church family.
